Artist-In-Residence Program

2015-2016 Aritst-In-Residence: Robert Howsare (

Each year a new artist arrives to spend an academic year with our students. The artist teaches foundational courses in art and history, while maintaining a professional studio space on campus. They also present a solo exhibition of work at the Sleeth Gallery during the spring semester. This program, the only one of its kind in West Virginia, provides students the opportunity to network with four unique artists over the course of their time at Wesleyan.

Special Topics course: Appropriation and Painting

AIR exhibition: Cue

While in residence, Zara led three workshops:

  • Stretching Canvas
  • Priming, Sanding, and Gessoing Canvas
  • Mixing and Tubing Paint

And curated a student exhibition of student Drawing and Painting work.
