Clayton Wins Scholarship to China

The Art Department is delighted to announce Shawna Clayton, a Pre-Art Therapy / Painting & Drawing / Psychology major is going to China this summer for a one-month program entitled, WVU Ceramics in China. Clayton is a recipient of the competitive Bruhns Scholarship ($4,000), which will help enable her study abroad.

She will be studying Chinese Ceramics Art History, Calligraphy, Enamel-Over-Glazing, Traditional Brush Painting, Brush Making, Slab building, etc. She will also be learning from on site staff as well as local artisans (through lectures and workshops). The trip involves traveling to Beijing, Shanghai, Chen Lu, Xian, and Jingdezhen. There will also be a cultural opportunity to study Tai Chi.
